Shared Space Opportunities

1. Community Theatre/Performing Arts Space

Seating for 800 for school performances and presentations and for community performances, including the following elements:

  • Backstage subdividable waiting room, which can be used, as stage craft area, drama class room or choral room when there is not a performance.
  • Backstage rest rooms and costume changing area.
  • Entrance lobby with ticket booth and display space for community artwork.

    2. Multi-purpose Rooms

    Multi-purpose rooms are needed for school and community use. Need to have large spaces with the ability to reconfigure using modular walls. Multi-purpose space may be used for school activities, community events, and community event rentals.

    3. Kitchen
    Kitchen/cooking facilities are needed for the following purposes:
  • Preparing meals to serve students in K-8 and 9-12 programs; these kitchen facilities need to be located near cafeteria serving facilities
  • Teaching at K-8 and 9-12 levels
  • Community lunch/food programs
  • Community cooking classes
  • Concessions during performances/events, both in Community Theatre and Multi-Purpose Rooms
  • Catering for community event rentals

    4. Gardens

    Gardens are needed for the following school and community programs:

  • School focal point
  • Science and environmental education programs
  • Creation of community in school setting
  • Connect environmental education to youth programming
  • Create community garden space

    5. Gymnasium

    Sufficient gymnasium space is needed to support the following programs:

  • Physical education programs at the K-8 and 9-12 levels
  • School and community sports leagues (basketball, volleyball, etc.)
  • Community programs, including dance, fitness, adult corporate leagues, youth and teen leagues, and a whole array of community classes and activities, such as cheering, table tennis, volleyball, kindergym, etc.

    6. Playing Fields/Outdoor Courts

    Sufficient playing field space is needed to support the following programs:

  • Physical education programs at the K-8 and 9-12 levels
  • School and community sports leagues (soccer, baseball, softball, football, track,etc.)
  • Community recreation programs and classes
  • Youth sports and camps

    7. Art Studio

    Art studio space is needed to support both school and community art programs

    8. Music Studio

    Music studio space is needed to support both school and community programs.

    9. Library

    Library space is needed for the K-8, 9-12 and adult education school programs.

    10. Technology Labs

    Technology Labs are needed for K-8 and 9-12 school programs and for after-school and family programming needs.

    11. Adult Education

    Adult education could occur in a dedicated adult school facility or could occur within program rooms in the Community Center.
