1. K-8 School Program
The ideal K-8 program includes two separate school communities sized at approximately 400 students each (optimal school size).
Each 400-student school community needs facilities to support the following programs:
22 classrooms at approximately 1,400 square feet per room
Administration area
Reception area
Science classroom primarily for upper grade science
Exploratory classroom for hands-on exploration and inquiry primarily for lower grade science
Technology Lab
Gardens – both as an aesthetic school focal point and an educational tool
Library
Multi-purpose space
Kitchen/Cafeteria space
Tutoring, mentoring, study hall
Teacher’s resource room/lounge
Parent’s resource room/lounge
Outdoor play space for younger grades
Outdoor play space/playing fields for older grades
Gym
Secure drop-off and pick-up area

2. 9-12 School Program
The ideal 9-12 program includes a high school community sized at approximately 400 students, including the following facilities:
16 classrooms at approximately 1,400 square feet per room
Administration area
Reception area
Technology Lab
Science lab classrooms (2) dedicated to practice of experimentation inquiry
Science lecture classrooms (2) focused on needs of science instruction
Language Lab with dedicated technology and resources for learning multiple languages
Literacy Development Lab designed to support the acquisition and development of fluent written and spoken English
Music Studio
Art Studio

In anticipation of the high quality teaching and learning present in the Emery Unified School District and in keeping with the vision of the Math, Science and Technology Initiative (MSTI), designing a regional center for professional development is an important addition to the new education complex.
